The drive from McHenry,MD to Chicago,IL is 554 miles (using Google Maps) and takes 8 hours and 45 minutes. Once again, I drive during the day and as long as I feel alert.
I left McHenry on Saturday morning with the plan to drive as long as I felt alert. I knew that last year, I stopped in Van Wert and when I arrived in the area, I investigated stopping there again. The place where I stayed overnight last year, no longer allowed long-term parking. I looked on the map and another city was only a 30 minute drive so I went there.
I arrived in Chicago on Sunday morning and didn't have any problem with either traffic or GPS showing me the route to drive. Also, as always, I am thankful for my van and not having mechanical problems.

I have organized this trip into 3 sections. First is some pictures of the local area near where I stayed. The second section is pictures of the city and third are pictures of food and places where we ate.
The residents have long rectangular houses with a short curb-front. Between the house and city sidewalk is ground where owners can personalize their space. My son has plants like roses, ,daylillies, and other flowers. Some people put decorative rocks with a few flowers, and one distinctive owner had many small statues.

Section 2 are some of the pictures that I took of the city. Tall buildings are always my favorite pictures, plus some modern-art-sculpture and general views seen.

Section 3 is the *food* area. Pictures of what we ate and places that we ate. I had some WONDERFUL pizza. Chicago is known for the deep-dish pizza and I enjoyed it all.
