2023-07-01_to_2023-07-15 from GA,Atl to MD, McHenry - several van-owners stay with friends on their farm

The distance to McHenry,MD is 646 miles (10hours,13minutes) according to Google Maps. It is TOO FAR to drive in one day and I stay wherever is convenient when I get tired of driving.

I've been to McHenry for the past two summers for two weeks about this time of year. So, I have driven the road and know what the drive is like. I use the interstate highway system and 'destination' drive. I really enjoy just getting out of the city and enjoying seeing the country.

I belong to a group on Facebook who post the time to visit. I messed up my dates because, in previous years, the gathering was for 2 weeks. In the process of writing the date and information on my printed calendar, I didn't look on the message-post and note that the event wasn't for two weeks as previously enjoyed. Our hosts, allowed me to stay for a little longer and I drove the way to Chicago on Saturday and arrived on Sunday. My theory is that traffic is not has heavy on the week-ends due to many trucks scheduling delivery during the week and many people going to and from work.

I have an awful time preparing for trips and make lists of items to pack. I thought that I had everything that I would need and left my house and drove about 30 minutes. At that time, I realized that I had forgotten to put my cell-phone pouch on my waist. I carry it there so that it is always available and will pair with my Apple-watch within 30 feet. I turned around by getting off at the first exit, returning home for the cell-phone. I calculated that I lost about 2 hours on the day and I had waited until 10:00 to begin because traffic in my area is dependent on 'rush-hour' (plus, I was still packing some). Anyway, I drove until I was tired, found a place to rest and then finished the trip on the next day.
