The distance was 280 miles (about 4 hours and 45 minutes) according to Google Maps.
I start the driving about 10AM in order to avoid Atlanta traffic. It was a cold winter day, but driving in the warm van was no problem.
Returning, the weather was clear when I started and there was some rain along the way. I returned on Sunday and I noticed that traffic was lighter than on Tuesday.
I had planned to stay about a week. I had visited last year around this time to mark the occasion of my younger brothers birthday. I decided to celebrate the occasion again as both of us are now retired and it was a 'good-time' to visit.
We ate a chicken supper prepared by the American Legion. There was a sign posted by the side of the road when I drove from the bridge to the island that Thursday was the night that supper was sold. We walked on the Tybee Pier and I took some beautiful sunsets. We ate a 'special' meal celebrating his birthday near Plant Riverside, a new mall/Marriott-hotel on Riverstreet. It used to be an electrical generating plant. I had a great time and really enjoyed getting to see everyone. See the next post for 2024-02-01 and our visit to the Mighty 8th Air Force (WWII Bomber Group) Museum.
