The distance was 31 miles (about 1 hour) from GATybeeIsland according to Google Maps.
It was my brothers birthday --- and, as you know --- the BIRTHDAY boy gets to do what he wants on this special day. (Especially, when he's retired.)
We had not planned to visit the museum on this day. I had said that I would like to visit the museum on this trip. When I got up, my brother and I talked about the day and he
said that he wanted to go see the museum. I looked up the hours that it was open and we had plenty of time to visit so we left immediately.
We arrived shortly after the museum opened. The cost was $12 for senior citizens and we entered the displays after paying for a ticket. I was very impressed and had been told
that the museum is now a National Museum. I am a member of a group in Atlanta called the Mighty 8th Air Force History Group and had heard several times about it. I had
driven down I-95 and noticed the big jet on display that was visible from the interstate.
It is impossible to describe the museum and the only thing that I can write about it is : You've GOTTA SEE IT! They have the jet "Fighting Sam" on display, as well as a couple of videos, a target practice display with a machine gun, a chapel and many displays with artifacts. We talked to other visitors who ate at the cafe and recommended the food.
